GULGULUTHIKTHAKAM KASHAYAM;

Gulguluthikthakam Kashayam is an ayurvedic medicine used in treating inflammatory conditions of skin, joints and bones. It maintains the integrity of skin, bones and tendons.

Gulguluthikthakam Kashayam is an Ayurvedic tablet for joint pain. It is also a natural treatment for gout and can be supplemented with external treatments. Gout treatment tablets have a better effect when combined with dietary restrictions and weight management.

ROLE OF INGREDIENTS;

Nimba – neem – Azadirachta indica - is used for leprosy, eye disorders, bloody nose, intestinal worms, stomach upset, loss of appetite, skin ulcers, diseases of the heart and blood vessels (cardiovascular disease), fever, diabetes, gum disease (gingivitis), and liver problems. The leaf is also used for birth control and to cause abortions.

Patola – Trichosanthes dioica -  is used as tonic, febrifuge, and in subacute cases of enlargement of liver and spleen; in Charaka Samhita, leaves and fruits are used for treating alcoholism and jaundice. Leaves are used in edema and alopecia. It is also used as antipyretic, diuretic, cardiotonic, and laxative.

Vyaghri – Solanum xanthocarpum - is a perennial herb, traditionally used for treating cough, fever, and heart diseases. It has several pharmacological effects like antipyretic, antitumor, hypotensive, antianaphylactic, antiasthmatic, and aphrodisiac activities.

Guduchi – Tinospora cordifolia -  has an importance in traditional ayurvedic medicine used for ages in the treatment of fever, jaundice, chronic diarrhea, cancer, dysentery, bone fracture, pain, asthuma, skin disease, poisonous insect, snake bite, eye disorders.

Vasa – Adhatoda vasica -  is useful in treating bronchitis, tuberculosis and other lung and bronchiole disorders. A decoction of the leaves of Vasaka may be used to help with cough and other symptoms of colds. The soothing action helps irritation in the throat and the expectorant will help loosen phlegm deposits in the airway.

Patha – Cyclea peltata / Cissampelos pariera - a well-known medicinal climber-plant of the Menispermaceae family, has been extensively used in the traditional medicinal system since the ancient time for the treatment of numerous diseases such as ulcer, wound, rheumatism, fever, asthma, cholera, diarrhoea, 

Vidanga – Embelia ribes -  are recommended for relieving headache, rhinitis, haemorrhage, epilepsy and insomnia. The decoction of dried fruits is used for fever and for chest and skin disease. Paste is applied for skin infection.

Suradaru – Cedrus deodara -  act as expectorant and useful in curing piles, epilepsy, stones in the kidney and bladder, useful in fevers and in many other disorders. The oil is antiseptic in nature and helpful in curing skin diseases, wounds, urogenital diseases, diaphoretic as well as insecticide.

Gajopakulya – Piper chaba -is most commonly used to treat chronic bronchitis, asthma, constipation, gonorrhea, paralysis of the tongue, diarrhea, cholera, chronic malaria, viral hepatitis, respiratory infections, stomachache, bronchitis, diseases of the spleen, cough, and tumors.

Yavakshara – Hordeum vulgare  -has been used as an aid in the treatment of a variety of conditions such as diabetes, skin abnormalities, arthritis, digestive diseases, weight loss, detoxifying and cancer.

Nagara – Zingiber officinalis -  is one of the most widely used natural products consumed as a spice and medicine for treating nausea, dysentery, heartburn, flatulence, diarrhea, loss of appetite, infections, cough, and bronchitis.

Nisha – Turmeric - Curcuma longa - is used as a traditional medicine and remedy for various diseases including a coughs, diabetes, dermatological conditions, respiratory problems, cardiovascular and hepatobiliary diseases, arthritis, irritable bowel disease (IBS), peptic ulcers, psoriasis, and atherosclerosis.

Mishreya – Anethum sowa - as a carminative for the treatment of flatulence, colic and hiccups of infants and children, antioxidant, antimicrobial and antispasmodic agent.

Chavya – Piper chaba -  is most commonly used to treat chronic bronchitis, asthma, constipation, gonorrhea, paralysis of the tongue, diarrhea, cholera, chronic malaria, viral hepatitis, respiratory infections, stomachache, bronchitis, diseases of the spleen, cough, and tumors.

Kushta – Saussurea lappa - have been widely used in chronic gastritis, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and bronchitis in traditional medicine and in inflammation-related diseases . Its roots are used especially in Siddha for the medicinal purposes

Tejovati – Zanthoxylum alatum -  are used as aromatic tonic in dyspepsia and fever. Fruits and seeds are beneficial in dental troubles, thus used to prepare dental paste and powder. Tender twigs are used to brush teeth and used as a remedy for toothache.

Maricha – Black pepper - arthritis, asthma, upset stomach, bronchitis, a bacterial infection that causes diarrhea (cholera), colic, depression, diarrhea, gas, headache, sex drive, menstrual pain, stuffy nose, sinus infection, dizziness, discolored skin (vitiligo), weight loss, and cancer.

Vatsaka – Holarrhena antidysenterica - is widely used in traditional medical system for treatment of constipation, colic, and diarrhea. 

Deepyaka – Trachyspermum ammi -fruit possesses stimulant, antispasmodic and carminative properties and is used traditionally as an important remedial agent for flatulence, atonic dyspepsia, diarrhea, abdominal tumors, abdominal pains, piles, and bronchial problems, lack of appetite, galactogogue, asthma and amenorrhoea.

Agni – Plumbago zeylanica - used in the treatment of stubborn chronic rheumatoid arthritis, skin diseases and tumerous growths as recommended by Ayurveda. It also finds its use in correcting chronic menstrual disorders, viral warts and chronic diseases of nervous system.

Rohini – Picrorrhiza kurroa -  is a well-known herb in the Ayurvedic system of medicine and has traditionally been used to treat disorders of the liver and upper respiratory tract, reduce fevers, and to treat dyspepsia, chronic diarrhea, and scorpion sting

Arushkara – Purified Semecarpus anacardium - is used in Ayurvedic medicine for improving sexual power, increasing sperm count, curing diseases related to the digestive system, balancing phlegm 

Vacha – Acorus calamus -  is also used as a calming medicine (sedative), to induce sweating, and to treat rheumatoid arthritis and stroke. Some people chew calamus to remove the smell of tobacco, as a stimulant, to increase their sense of well-being, and as a hallucinogen.

Kanamoola – Piper longum – root -is most commonly used to treat chronic bronchitis, asthma, constipation, gonorrhea, paralysis of the tongue, diarrhea, cholera, chronic malaria, viral hepatitis, respiratory infections, stomachache, bronchitis, diseases of the spleen, cough, and tumors.

Yukta – Pluchea lanceolata - is accepted as classical drug for arthritis. Its decoction is given for rheumatic conditions, muscular pains, edema, and fever and also applied externally as massage oil. The leaves are aperients, used as a laxative, analgesic and antipyretic.

Manjishta – Rubia cordifolia -  is popular all over the world for its medicinal uses in skin diseases like eczema, dermatitis and skin ulcers.

Ativisha – Aconitum heterophyllum -  are cooling in potency and bitter in taste. They are used as expectorant, febrifuge, anthelmintic, anti-diarrhoeal, anti-emetic, and anti-inflammatory. They are also used against poisoning due to scorpion or snake bite and to cure fever and contagious diseases.

Vishani – Aconitum species - have been given orally in traditional medicine to reduce fever associated with colds, pneumonia, laryngitis, croup, and asthma; for pain, inflammation, and high blood pressure; as a diuretic; to cause sweating; to slow heart rate; and for sedation.

Yavani – Trachyspermum ammi - possesses stimulant, antispasmodic and carminative properties and is used traditionally as an important remedial agent for flatulence, atonic dyspepsia, diarrhea, abdominal tumors, abdominal pains, piles, and bronchial problems, lack of appetite, galactogogue, asthma and amenorrhoea.

Shuddha Guggulu – Purified Commiphora mukul -  resin is used for arthritis, lowering high cholesterol, “hardening of the arteries” (atherosclerosis), acne and other skin diseases, and weight loss.

DIRECTIONS FOR USAGE;

Take 5 – 10 ml, before food, or on empty stomach, once or twice a day or as directed by ayurvedic doctor

As per traditional reference, it is advised to take along with rock salt and jaggery

If the kashayam is concentrated, then it needs to be mixed with equal quantity of water
